right? it feels like a very bad move - having heard the things i heard years ago i'm not surprised someone's said something, it's just that... it does not feel legit. it's not about people at the heart of it, it's about taking down a target

Yeah, exactly. Ever since the 90s there have been open rumours that he was a fuckboy so fair enough that it's caught up with him, but at the same time, it looks like a hit job. Especially compared to how things went down with Warren Ellis which was (IMO) the textbook example of how to do it right.
