So listening to @themutantages.bsky.social talk about "Motendo/Lifedeath pt. 1" from X-Men '97 (soundcloud.com/themutantage...) and springboarding off some stuff they talk about, I wanna do a little thread about basic fatphobic character coding by talking about Mojo.

What would you personally recommend as an alternative way to visually represent that Mojo sustains himself through those ratings in a way that is greedy and not needfull?

In the ep, when we first see Mojo -- who is typically portrayed as fat and comes from a race of beings that are immobile without assistive tech, presumably b/c of their weight/size -- he's still big, but thin, with a trope-y "malnourished" look (visible ribs, etc.)

I knew this thread was going to cook. Mojo stories just straight up haven’t worked for me since social media really opened my eyes to fatphobic representations in media, BUT THEY STILL DO THEM. Ms Marvel was in Mojoworld THIS MONTH in her book.
