that's the problem with people pegging republicans as evil from the get-go: they get away with obviously terrible shit because it's "expcected", and people hyperfocus on relatively small democrat fuck-ups becaise *they're* expected to be better it's a real issue

case in point: all the reporting going "how come Dem opposition research didn't uncover the truth about former Navy SEAL and Pulitzer laureate George Santos" and none going "how come the GOP nominated a con man who wasn't actually the chef of a Michelin starred restaurant and Super Bowl champion?"
