I'm sad that James Howard Kunstler, whom I used to respect as a proponent of new urbanism and I presume 15 minute cities has become such a racist, conservative crackpot. The racism was always there, I just became more aware of it and unwilling to overlook it.

Agreed. Shortly after the CNU was formed, I had a lot of interaction with him, and once toured him around Atlanta for his research for a book. The streak of conspiracy theory nuttery started on a fairly subtle note, and accelerated. But the racism was evident early on.
