The movie adaptation of Hannibal-like the book-is a direct sequel to SotL, the movie adaptation of Red Dragon-even though the book was the first in the series-is a prequel. Call it an IP franchise by all means, but I honestly don't know why you think this is remotely the same as Stargate.
