I was thinking your last line before I read it. I'm also a nondrinker. My stepfather joined AA when I was in junior high. Told him I'd stay sober as long as he did.

For me...I just couldn't drink, going through all that, seeing what it did first hand, watching him struggle. What made me think of this was Classy Bessy, the wrestler, and reading that he also abstained, for the same reason.
