On 4/20/20 no less! It was absolutely wild! As someone who monitors the markets, no one had ever seen this, though there were hints it could happen. The NYMEX had asked members to test negative prices the week before. Luckily it was an expiring contract so most (not all) were out of trading it.

And a couple of years later, Republicans were talking about how gas prices were SO much cheaper when Trump was president - thus conveying their (completely deserved) contempt for their base.
