Without a solid government commitment to pricing ag emissions, NZ research on ag ghg mitigation is unlikely to get the backing it needs to make it to market. As this article explains, our farming system will fall further behind.

Ireland with a GHG profile similar to ours will implement a carbon tax on agriculture in 2025. We're still thinking about it. My feeling is nothing will happen until the EU introduces carbon tariffs.
