Here's another cure for apathy: think for a bit about what it must be like to fly when you use a wheelchair, not because you get weak if you walk too much but because you cannot use your legs. The flight crew have to move you from your chair to your seat: do they know how?

Will they move you with care, or toss you around like a sack of potatoes? If something comes up, will they forget about you? If you need help when you're in the airport, will it arrive promptly, or will you just sit there forever, trying to will someone to come?
