What strikes me about the Foundation novels is how pedestrian friendly Trantor is. Gaal Dornick arrives by spaceship, but mostly gets around the planet on foot and elevator. In the prequels, Hari Seldon takes public transit everywhere. (It's a stand-in for Asimov's experience of New York City.)

I never get the flying cars. I want the car that turns into suitcase. I think I only bought the flying cars in Blade Runner and maybe Coruscant.

Caves of Steel even discusses housing policy, with the subsequent novels on the spacer worlds showing how the more suburban style living was unsustainable for humanity. With even the apparent balanced suburban world shown to be rotten at the core.
