Look, I basically agree with you but the "some reason" is not a mystery. Humans tend to get mad at being told to do things.

not sure about this. people follow self-help authors on social media all the time, not to mention cultural critics with their own takes on things that inform and challenge and so on. i'm not sure if people go to social media to NOT be challenged. if anything some people seem to seek it out...?
