We realized that there are only two weapon types for orange and green ammo. Tactical Rifles/Beam Weapons (Pulse/Trace rifle in destiny respectively) and Hand Cannons/Scout Rifles respectively

while white gets ARs, SMGs, and LMGs and purple gets Shotguns, Snipers, and Launchers

That's why we're having such a confusion; there's two ammo types that do the same thing (and honestly beam weapons should go to heavy)
