The involvement of profiteering goons is never at an end. Anything popular with eyeballs and people will always be bait for profiteering goons, and their influence must always be fought. At the user level, at the community level, and at the political level.

So true. This is why I helped start a cooperative publication, and even those have to be designed with care, to protect independence as much as possible.
