You literally have to fly the state flag upside down to designate your sympathy with the south indicating the current set up is aligned with the north

To designate your sympathy with the south, or else to protest some journalist a few doors down putting a “Fuck Trump” sign on his lawn. Which, I suppose, pretty much boils down to the same thing.
