i think you have to look up what miasma theory is and the alternatives. covid droplets don’t smell bad and aren’t from rot, etc. those guys were all very stupid, and surgeons wouldn’t even wash their hands for hundreds of years…

i’m relatively familiar though hardly an expert. basically they’re describing a phenomena wrong but one that is happening, right? you go in the swamp and get malaria. sure it’s from mosquitoes and has nothing to do with how it smells in there or night terrors, theres just more bugs out then
