People are pointing out that the math makes no sense. That’s not the point. Hochul is weaponizing suburban disdain for low income, Black and brown New Yorkers to serve her political career. This is “welfare queen” style politics. That’s why she put more cops on the subways.

Hochul is not engaging in a public debate about what will make NYC public transit more accessible and efficient. She is using transit as a vehicle to drum up support among voters who resent communities most reliant on transit.
