Why we love big banks, chapter five million: -Dealing with paperwork / procedure for (very modest) estate of a family member. -In flood of paper, this notice. -As if steep fees are not enough, bank also re-selling personal info w/ no opt-out choice.

all of the little banks (and at least one credit union) in my town do this too. Only way to opt out is not use banks at all. :(

These banks are a nightmare - PNC bank has held money from my late mother's estate hostage for more than seven months now with general incompetence and endless requests for more paperwork. It does help - somewhat - to complain to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
