Hey that’s great do those costs include the indirect costs of the policing? When we lock people up, we pay for: the cops. The courts. The jail. They lose: fees. Fines. Work. Opportunities. Most of those are never counted, because if we did we might be offended by the cost.

Check out the table image I posted from the study itself. The study chose to measure jail time and jail nights. I think they undervalued them, but that's irrelevant because both decreased more for the control group than for either test group (which both actually had increased jail night costs).
