The thing is, Republicans have no respect for precedent. They'll do whatever. If they hadn't gotten lucky on lose-the-popular-win-the-electoral-college presidents and some very well-timed justice deaths, plus McConnell stonewalling Obama's last appointment, they wouldn't have the six they have now.

Dem leadership doesn't seem to be very good at standing up for what's right. Not in any way that their voters can get behind and build on. And Repubs didn't get lucky with those electoral college wins. They gamed the system. It was a strategy long in the making.
