Vague thoughts. There are two Russell T Davies. There's the one who wrote The Second Coming, It's A Sin and Dot and Bubble. And there's the one who wrote Coronation Street: Viva Las Vegas, Mine All Mine, Space Babies and The Devil's Chord. His best work is when they collaborate.

I don't know if the woman in the shack was a late addition but it certainly comes across that way; it threw my son out of the story and - unusually for a RTD story - there was lots of plot-covering ADR. Not to mention the crucial spoon disappears from the side of the telly between shots.
