It is naive to think that Reform's support will dwindle if Labour improves public services and the economy. Grievance-merchants aren't interested in actual reality and facts. The only way to deal with racists is to *shut them down*, not to appeal to their sense of reason. They haven't gone one.

IMO that will only work if there's zero tolerance for the "both sides / legitimate concerns / stop telling people they're wrong" bullshit on the "sensible" side.

I hope here it isn’t a naive thought, but in the US, Biden has measurably recovered the economy of the US - but Trump still gets away with saying inflation is 30%, not 3%. It feels like an unprecedented era of political lying by the far right is their fuel and it’s hard for reality to get a toe-hold
