Meanwhile in Russia: state TV propagandists tried to rewrite history by claiming that the West lost WWII and the Soviet Union won. They also disputed the facts about the Russo-Finnish war. As usual, Solovyov threatened the West with nuclear destruction.

But...but Russia almost DID lose to Finland! I read that, to his credit, Stalin recognized that the Red Army had been very badly damaged by the purges and set about fixing that, By the time Operation Barbarossa began, they were in much better shape to take on the Nazi Wehrmacht.
