I have been lucky enough to be in multiple anthologies and have three graphic novels out now with major publishers and I have never gotten 30k as an advance, and have yet to pay out any of the books I did get an advance on. Another thing to keep in mind when looking at a chart like this πβοΈ
Hourly is right around $7.59, and thats based on the numbers above. Some of us make vastly less than that and its so so incredibly wrong and disgustingly unfair to us.
I am trying to put a first illustrated book together and it is VERY short but holy moly is it already taking absolutely ages to even put the proposal together. Somewhat encouraging to see the madness is normal even though it is still a madness
