Rats are actually really amazing creatures. If you want an affectionate, intelligent pet but don't feel like you have the bandwidth for a cat or dog, I highly recommend a rat.

I don't know, rats are wayyyy more social than cats, and they will consider their humans to be members of their group, and will expect attention and access to groom you.
