You want to start watering NOW and earlier in the day because plants will not take up water as freely and easily when it gets very hot. Move potted plants into shady areas to help reduce heat stress. Water in the morning or the evening, but remember to water yourself too.

The last extreme heat event we had killed off a chunk of established plants in the Portland metro area simply because they didn’t have enough water. Even big trees need water when it gets above 95° for long stretches of time. 🌳🌲
