And it's *so* cheap to do in the first place, when you're building, but that would mean 1% less profit for the developer, even though it'd save hundreds of thousands for the resident over the life of the house.

Yeah, I used to own a property management business and it’s shocking how cheap any of the stuff that goes into a house actually is. Packing the place to the gills with decent insulation is a cost on the same order as the granite countertops
