Adding to this thread. Drill down through the quoted posts to my own winge if you want. My main issue is I SHOULD be NDIS, I'm not really a My Aged Care situation. Anyway this is getting worse. So many! 💔 The number of older Australians waiting for a home care package has increased to over 68,000

Nurse working in general practice and daughter of a 99 year old dad. I can attest to the fact that the aged care system is totally useless and not fit for purpose. Labyrinthine and rorted by providers. How vulnerable elders without support navigate it is unimaginable

OK maybe I am reading this wrong but if you add up the number waiting for each level the total is = 99,109 people which is even worse & they are going to throw a measly 24,100 new packages at it which just isn't going to fix anything. You can't be NDIS over 65 as if you magically get better Robyn

And even once they are approved, they wait months for services! I recently enquired about emergency respite if we can't fix my shoulders without surgery. Just in case. I'll have to find a respite date, then work backwards to book the surgery! Hoping any surgery wld be minor & I can just go home!

My dad has been assessed for care but Bolton Clarke had the contract in his zone and there’s no availability for assistance. It’s a fuggen joke.
