And the reason it won't happen is because the GOP has no actual interest in running the country like a business. A bunch of those states exist because GOP administrations of the time were gaming the system, creating low-population states that'd vote GOP, giving them more Senators.

I'm no fan of the population imbalance in the Senate, but the Dakotas were made two states due to the logistics of the area's sheer size, and the distance between the two population centers. It had nothing to do with modern partisan divisions.

That's bad business, but good politics, for them. The Dems would love to undo it, not because they want to run the country like a business either, but because the results would favor Dems winning the Senate.
