Every time I go looking for tech support and the comments are like “Well your problem is that you’re trying to use that thing. You need to use this other more expensive/harder to use thing instead”:
90% of tech support is asking the right question, 9% is knowing what to do, and 1% is having no clue but offering educated guesses.
Unfortunately, the "confident but wrong/useless" folks talk faster than someone offering a thoughtful solution.
