As we accept our shared human role in the destruction of nature and in the chaos of climate change, something counterintuitive is happening. I have noticed in myself a kind of fatalism along with a deepening sense of joy in the everyday gifts of life and beauty. Is this hedonism?

I completely understand the fatalistic view on the global climate crisis. This crisis has turned into a political issue when, in reality, it's a "human issue". In America, one can't be a conservative and still be involved in ways to decrease the effects of GCC. I do my part re GCC and enjoy nature.
