i still haven't told most people i know IRL because, ime, that would mean 90% of them deciding i'm somehow the monster for surviving.

FWIW, the only reason I tell anybody who gets more than 'acquaintance' level close to me is because that's how I determine who the evil people are who might think like that. But I do 100% totally get this.
