Dogs that hurt people or other animals are not “bad,” which is why it’s irrelevant that your dog is “good.” If your “good” dog who’s unleashed runs up on a leashed dog, and that leashed dog flips its shit because it realizes it can’t defend itself or run away, you are at fault.
I live in an area where lots of people try to walk their dogs at the same time, which is stressful enough with leashes being a requirement by the city. I just don't understand why people who say they love dogs would risk their dog's life by walking off leash.
yeah this drives me nuts. neither of my current dogs meets well on leash, they're both in the "flips its shit" category, to varying degrees, when approached by a strange dog. i always have to be pretty careful. both are smaller too so i worry about them being injured by larger dogs
An acquaintance of mine had a guide dog who had to be retired very early because he'd been attacked by enough off-leash dogs (in the city!) that he'd become reactive to other dogs. And then she just didn't have a guide dog for a long time!
I live near one of the Rock Creek Park trails and I hate how 90% of the dogs on it are unleashed, there are clear signs about it and you don’t want dogs running around in that undergrowth anyway!!
