While I appreciate that it comes from a place of genuine kindness, I really wish people would stop messaging me about my Mom today. Today I miss her so much it hurts and I just can't. Grief is like an open wound and those messages are like salt.

This is my first year without my mother. We have not been closer for the last few years due to Alzheimer's. I'm going to tell ya, it's been a messy day for me .
