Despair probably means you're unwilling to change something. Depression means you're unable. I'd think you can be both at the same time, or just one or the other.

idk, I always figured despair was what happens when you pay attention. Or, maybe I don't understand what despair is. If it's the antithesis of hope, it's *definitely* what happens when you pay attention.
