I think they just can't stand to feel so praised and rewarded all the time. That huge pay rise they got after the pandemic peaked was really excessive, and a lot of them are embarrassed.

I guess that not only can they earn more money in other countries but cost of living is also probably lower In those countries. Sorry, was that rhetorical?

20 years ago a French friend worked for a while as a care assistant, and suffered horrendous abuse from some of her elderly clients simply because she came from France. I would like to think that was in the past, but ...
