My latest for @pastemagazine.bsky.social is on Mad Max (2015) deserving better than it got, and some box office-related reminders of why everyone was asking the wrong questions about what makes a successful Mad Max entry

Really enjoyed the game back when i played it. I always felt that if it had included the Nemesis System from WB's OTHER big franchise tie-in (Shadows of Mordor) i think that could've elevated it to something greater.

I've always throught that this game was a ton of fun, but got absolutely destroyed at retail because nobody bothered to look out for what was also releasing that day.

When I played it a couple years ago (good game!) I spent a lot of the time thinking about this RPS article about how satisfying it is to play a solidly executed action game that knows it isn't more than that www.rockpapershotgun.com/best-average...

good piece, though I think I came out very differently on how I felt about its open world design back in 2015. at the time, it felt very boilerplate, along identical lines to that era's WB/Ubi open world experiences. wondering if by comparison to today's level of map barf, it feels differently now.
