Purely anecdotally and from a family perspective, because of this power grab, a family member was murdered on May 2, 1933, along with 3 other opponents of the Nazis by the auxiliary police SA. Trump has his Proud Boys + other militias who are only too happy to take on the role of auxiliary police.
