It's simply that Marvel is not in the movie making business, they are in the franchise IP business and despite the overlap they are very different things.

Yep. Blade would be hard to fit into their universe. I guess that’s what they have made a mess of so far. Standalone films with a different tone likely not on the table (but are needed).

I mean they did actually have to make movies though, in order to get the ball rolling. It seems like they vaguely figured out how to do it from first principles, started leaning on momentum and then just...forgot how?
