Made it up to the top of Black Balsam Knob this morning. Blue Ridge Parkway was practically empty, despite the 4th of July holiday.

About a 2 mile round trip for us, starting on a trail about 0.7 mile in from the parkway. Brief forest, then immediately opens up and you’re hiking across bald with gorgeous 360 degree views of the mountains below. Grand Balsam Mountains, Black Mountains, and Smokies all visible.
