The salmon/trout Joan Nathan recipe is the one to make if you think you hate gefilte fish. It makes you realize that the things you've eaten previously are needlessly awful, complicated, or both.

Why would anyone contaminate good salmon with awful carp? Remove the flash from salmon filets skin and cube it coarsely. Mix the cubed raw salmon with avocado, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Fry the skin until crisp. Serve salmon "salad" atop salmon skin. Garnish with jokes about carp-eaters.
