honestly, after gamergate (and the general consensus among people who chose to still work in games journalism post-gamergate), i think it was probably a pretty internally popular editorial decision to make, but idk, i don't work there. it might have been really hard to do. i hope it wasn't

i will say it took a weirdly long time. i used to make a habit of googling it every couple of years. i'm not sure when it happened but i do know that as of today, those articles are gone and have a "did not meet our editorial standards" message in their place
