I reached out to an old friend a little while back in the hope of mending a rift. He replied with a list of ground rules I’d have to meet if we were to hang out again, nothing that he makes a lot of money and his time is at a premium. And that was fine/final. We have gone in different directions.

On the other hand, I got a message a few months back from another old friend and roommate who I’d drifted apart from. He wanted to apologize for his behaviour in his twenties. And man, who in their forties wouldn’t? Lord knows I would. He’s great, and it’s been terrific to get to know him again.
