Maude Barlow wrote a book that begins with a “David Suzuki’s obviously great but I was prompted to write this book by a young woman who came to a panel discussion we were both on and was shattered by the hopelessness she felt after hearing him speak” story.

For the record, I heard the man speak myself at a Leadnow event a number of years ago, and if anyone has a right to voice anger and cynicism over the environment and Canada’s action or lack thereof towards preserving it, it’s Suzuki. But yeah, Barlow’s account tracks.
