June 30 | News 🧵 Sen. Warren Magnusson (D-WA) and others nixed Sen. Jesse Helms's (R-NC) attempt to cut $378M from the approved $952.1M disaster relief bill. "We are having enough trouble with Mount St. Helens without the senator from North Carolina adding to it," remarked Magnusson.
