Although reports showed infected tissues in several organs, I thought it's more often a derailed immune system that causes systematic inflammation, with neuroinflammation at the core, resulting in various pathologies.

There is some evidence that multiple tissues are infected, which causes shock-like symptoms and tissue damage everywhere. The brain inflammation is a different process, directly initiated through nerves from the nasal cavity, so no systemic disease needed.
