I don’t disagree. But also: I would consider myself a South Asian genre writer (diaspora) AND my “native”/first language is English. (While I could *maybe* get by in spoken Sinhala, I cannot read any of your written comment!) The decision (or non-decision) is not merely marketing factors.

Yes, of course! I was thinking of multilingual writers there. But either way, it feels so rare to see South Asian writing in English being translated into South Asian languages, since translation efforts usually go the other way
