"Democracy" as an American virtue has always been code for 'majority rule by white people.' Inasmuchas population majority is under threat, for white people, "American Democracy" is under threat. And the truly important aspect "rule by white people" is what is being clung to.

And thats why we are here. A black man got to be in charge, with his black wife and daughters. White people lost their goddamn minds over it. Fine to “let us have rights” they can undermine at every turn, but the highest office in the land? Hell naw.
