You'll love Seattle. It's so car-hostile we hardly go there anymore. OTOH the hills make it terribly pedestrian and bicycle unfriendly. Holland loves bicycles because it's flat.

"Holland loves bicycles because it's flat."

the one thing one should no longer do is promote tropes for which "not just bikes" already has a whole video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWnr...

So car hostile that their entire plan for reducing the noise, pollution and danger of the speedways tearing apart our neighborhoods is to send lane reductions to the freight board to die.

Holland loves bicycles because there is a lot of bike infrastructure set up here so it's safe and easy. Holland loves SINGLE-SPEED bicycles because it's flat.

Not really; they ride bikes here because they’re cheap, low-maintenance, and safer than cars.

I have an e-bike that I commute 11 miles with each day in Seattle and it’s been pretty clutch handling the hills. I haven’t biked yet in the rainy and cold months, so I’ll have to see how I handle that.

Seattle just buried its downtown waterfront highway, offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a pedestrianized, unified waterfront. Instead, it built a new highway-like stroad ON TOP of the one it just buried, maintaining the separation between water & downtown. But sure, car-hostile.
