Well, NYRB Classics has the US rights at the moment, so it's more likely that they've got to wait for a while. And I doubt they can outspend NYRB's treasury.

That makes sense - and I don't understand the snippiness when "Sorry, rights are not available" is a perfectly reasonable response as soon the LoA blew though the dead long enough to be in the public domain wish list.
