If there's any alternative to Biden, it's Harris.
Strikes me as obvious. She's the sitting VP, she's already on the presumptive 2024 Dem ticket, there's no mechanism to pass over her, and her base will feel shafted if Dems did.
Some pundits disliking her or doubting her chances doesn't change that.
i agree. there are several dems i would rather have as pres than harris, but if biden were to step aside (i think don't he should), i'd rather dems congenially accept her as the nom. i get that some (the left, especially) are excited by the idea of a contested convention, but it's a really bad idea.
I think she'd be a great president, but her approval ratings are about where HRC's were in 2016. I think her odds against Trump are significantly lower than Biden's.
